I played a fine York bell front 3 valve euphonium
during happy years at Meridian, MS, USA high school band, in the late 1940's and early '50's.
I just bought one on E Bay, serial no. 120409.
It has DW York on the bell insignia design.
It has York Band Instrument Co. Grand Rapids 10, Mich, in the case escutcheon. Is there any source for complete history of York baritone horns?
Congratulations on your nice web site. Thanks.

Steve, I was at the Royal Albert Hall on saturday , enjoyed it very much but was surprised by Mr Philip Morris from Kapitol in a rather lame speech trumpeted..'brass bands are back'.Yet the hall was about a third full and no atmosphere!!..I remember when Besson were the sponsors a couple of years ago 2006? and Grimethorpe won on the Berlioz testpiece the hall seemed just about full..what was he on about?...do the new sponsors York not do anything to promote this any more, what a pity? Any ideas?
