Hi Paul,
Thanks for the comments, glad you are enjoying the new mouthpiece. Yes, in fact we are working on a large shank SM5U now....I have a clear idea of what I want it to be like and there seems to be a demand for it, so, watch this space...shouldn't be too long now.
Thanks again for your message.
Best,
Steve

Its been just under a month since I got my SM4UM. By far, that's most comfortable rim of any mouthpiece I used!!! The sound is exactly what I want from my euph. While I haven't experienced any differences in terms of ease of playing in the upper range compared to the SM4, the overall sound is much fuller and flexible.
Is there any chance of a large shank version of the 5 being made? It only would be for those once and a blue moon times that I have to play trombone for something

Really enjoying the mouthpiece you recommended. The case in particular is a work of art. And the alliance box it all came in is really useful for my cufflinks....thanks again

Hi Steven .... I am a euphonium player who has participated in master classes in your sixth Sassola San Gregorio (Italy-Rome) 18 to 20 June 2010 ....
I'm writing to tell you that you can always revive the music and make sense ... and fill our minds with joy our hearts ..... Your patience and your willingness to allow even professional musicians just like me to feel at ease in front of a teacher like you.
And soon .... I'm sorry for my English not very fair.

Steven Mead,
My name is Tamar Tucker-Harrison. I was born in London; but lived near Corfe Castle, Dorset (I see you were born in Bournemouth!)
Last year I moved to Canada and therefore a new school. At my new school we are required to learn a new instrument. I chose the euphonium and am getting along amazingly!
This term we are required to complete a sort of assignment on a song involving our instrument. Our soloist in our song was you!
I'm running out of characters so just saying hi

I play Euphonium in my High School Band and I just wanted to say that, since switching from Trombone last year, I've found myself getting better much faster than before, and I have more fun in band now.
My switch wasn't even my choice. It was kind of funny, actually. We had four Trombones and one Euphonium, but then the Euphonium dropped out of school. My band director happened to know that I'd learned how to play it the year before, so she forced me to switch. Though, now I'm glad she did.

Why hello Steven!
Just wanted to let you know that you are one of my idols. I've played euphonium for 2 years now, and I converted from bassoon. I've always had trouble playing high and I don't know how to practice accordingly, like I can play Pantomime except for the last high Eb!! And it's driving me crazy! I also have the same model euphonium as you do but I have an ever so small dent in the bell! It drives me crazy as well!
I apologize for asking questions on a Guestbook!
Thank you!
